The soya bean
The Chinese have been using soya as an excellent source of protein and for its many nutritional benefits for thousands of years.
Several hundreds of varieties of soya plant exist, the most common being the one that provides yellow soya beans, which is the variety that we use in our products.
These take between 150 and 200 days to develop in hot and humid climates. The plant itself reaches about 80 centimetres in height, growing small white or purple flowers that create pods that yield between 1 and 4 beans.
These beans are one of the best plant sources of protein and we use the goodness of the whole soya bean to make our products to ensure that all of the nutrients are retained.
Where do we source our beans?
Soya is grown in various parts of the world, although Alpro® soya sources the beans mostly in Brazil, Canada and China. These are then shipped to our productions units in Belgium, France and the UK. Find out more in the caring for our planet section of this website
